We will show you or send you details of a selection of suitable boats and keep you on our mailing list for future boats that come on to our database.
We can help in organizing a survey. We have names and addresses of surveyors but will not suggest a particular one.
We can help you obtain insurance.
We can help you with finance if required.

Selling a Boat

If you are thinking of selling your boat we can offer you the personal care and attention of a small family run business. We are always ready to help and advise with no obligation.

We advertise every month in leading national and international publications.
We circulate the details of your boat to the customers on our extensive database that is linked to other brokers in the UK
We advertise your boat in our marina side premises.
We charge a commission rate of 8% for boats under £20,000 and an agreed rate for more expensive vessels. VAT is not charged.

The process of selling a boat

The seller instructs the broker and provides details, photographs (if available) and any drawings of the boat. A brokerage form is provided for your convenience.
We print detail sheets and send you a copy to check and return with any amendments.
We print the detail sheets and send them out to the customers on our database.
A buyer asks to see the boat and we arrange to show him over the boat, or alternatively arrange for the owner to do this.

The buyer makes an offer to the broker either: -

A: As to where it is.
B: Subject to Survey.
C: Subject to sea trial.
D: Subject to B and C.

Seller accepts (or refuses, in which case further negotiations may follow).
Buyer lodges 10% deposit that is held in our clients account. (This is returnable if the sale does not go through).
Buyer arranges a survey and/or sea trial with surveyor, broker and seller.
If survey and/or sea trial is acceptable, the buyer pays the remaining 90%. If not, the price can be negotiated or occasionally the sale falls through.
We prepare a Bill of Sale.
We arrange the handover of the boat.
Exe Boat Sales pays the seller.
Exe Boat Sales arranges insurance cover if required.
